Rod Couey Lead Instructor
Rod is a retired law enforcement officer with 32 years of experience, qualified at the Master Level. He is a P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standard of Training) certified instructor, FBI-certified weapons instructor, and former NRA instructor.
For more than 20 years, Rod has trained both law enforcement professionals and civilians in firearms safety, tactics, and defensive shooting. His background includes teaching first-time shooters, advanced weapons and tactics, and Nevada CCW classes.
Today, Rod brings that expertise to The CCW Class in Las Vegas, where he specializes in private and semi-private concealed carry training. His patient, safety-first teaching style ensures that every student—whether brand new or experienced—walks away with the skills and confidence needed to earn their Nevada concealed carry permit and carry responsibly.
Rod is also an accomplished competitive shooter, with experience in USPSA, IPSC, and IDPA events. In 1996, he competed in the California Police Olympics Combat Pistol and earned the Gold Medal in the individual combat pistol competition.
In addition to his instructional background, Rod has completed extensive armorer training and holds certifications for Glock, Sig Sauer, and Remington firearms.
